Ganguly recalled for the test series

Sourav Ganguly and Laxman have been recalled to the Test side after Greg's experiment had failed miserably. Sourav Ganguly was left out of the team earlier this year after a tour to Pakistan. After that Ganguly made his way back to the Bengal team and lead the team from the front by scoring and taking wickets in crunch matches. The test series against South Africa is slotted to begin in two weeks time. This series is really a do or die situation of whole team as no player is performing. The players are more bothered about modeling and endorsing products.

ODI Series against South Africa

The first match was washed due to rain. This was only a real indication of the bad fate that followed. India's bowlers bowled weel to take the early wickets but simply were not able to control the South African batsmen from scoring runs. The Indian batsmen played like they have never been to any county India. The 201 runs scored in the fifth and final one day match was their highest total of the series and the only score above 200. Rahul Dravid was injured after the second match and Virender Sehwag was handeled the responsiblity of captaining the side. India's only win came in a Twenty-20 match. I would say that India won the match only because the last over was bowled by a spin bowler. This pathetic performance mad way to a uprise in India. The whole nation wanted Greg Chappel out and they demanded the return of former captain Sourav Ganguly. Aswering to this situation , Greg Chappel said that the Members of the Indian Parliment are paid to speak against him. This again led to incidents like MP's making comments on him and people burning his effigies.

India's tour to South Africa

The Indian cricket team has been comissioned on a tour to South Africa and are slotted to play 5 ODI and 3 Test matches.
Rahul Dravid has been named as the captain of the team and Greg Chapeel is the coach. India's star batsman Yuvraj Singh is out of the series due to a knee injury. The official team doctors are closely keeping a eye on his recovery as much of India's hope to perform well in West Indies in the World Cup 2007 depends on his performance. Hope he recovers fully and performs well. Yuvraj Singh's absence has given a chance to the likes of Dinesh Mongia, Suresh Raina and others to play in the series. India's two best bowlers Zaheer Khan and Anil Kumble are back after almost a year and this should improve India's strength
